Was thinking I paid too much for my 803A at $1800 winning bid....
After seeing the recent bidding on GL, I'm feeling a little better about my purchase....
Fired up the load bank to do some final checks. Auxiliary fuel system works great. Calibrated my gauges after a very good post by kenny0. Ran it at 100% load for 4 hours, I plan on load testing every 4 months to keep the unit exercised.
It was custom made at Tarpsnow. You just send them the dimensions you want and they make it from whatever material you want. A little pricey at $100(shipping included) but I like it alot. Took about 2 weeks to get it after being ordered.
Got a nice fitted cover from 'Tarpsnow' and got rid of the old green tarp. Cover should keep most of the rain, snow, and ice out of the unit while letting air flow in.
That is a good idea rhurey... I had one of those yellow drums that I made a burn barrel out of, wish I still had it. I'll keep an eye out for one.
Originally I have a metal drum for fuel but as I was cleaning it I noticed the rim around the bottom was dented in one spot and it looked like it was...
More than enough power output for here.....gas stove, gas dryer, gas hot water heater. I like the extra output of the 803A because I have electric back-up if the gas goes down. Back-up includes electric water heater, electric stove.
New optima batteries should be here tomorrow. I'll update when...
I don't anticipate much water in the 55 gallon drum due to the PRI-D stabilizer I'm using. Any water that may be present will be caught by the fuel/water separator in the unit. As far as the fuel in the line, I will probably disconnect the line at the genny and blow air through it back to the...
I understand that a valve near the bottom of the tank would be beneficial but not necessary due to the fuel/water separator in the unit.
By the way - your ultimate well nut repair is awesome...
Plumber Joe will be fixing the genset before he leaves the property.....! lol
This isn't a gravity system. The fuel will be sucked from the pickup tube which is connected from aux. hose at the top of the barrel.
If the line breaks from the ground level or the fitting near the fuel cap it won't...
Always more than one way to skin a cat...
What would be the issue with leaving fuel in the line? Aren't the fuel lines in the genset full when not in use....?
