Oil leaks happen. That is just the nature of moving vehicles. There are many reasons why the seal could be leaking in so short a time. You used new bearings right ? Did you get them tight enough when you assembled it ? I torque the wheel bearings down to around 250 to 300ft Ibs, then back them...

Don't feel so bad about your progress. At work (transit agency) we can take up to a week to do all the brakes on a 60ft bus. That is 3 shifts working on it. If you perform the retrofit of adding a zerk fitting to the trunnion cap, you can install the relief valve where the old zerk fitting went on the bottom of the trunnion. I did this after I blew out my oil seals by over pumping in the grease !

Remember TB58 to loosen the trunnion caps before lubing the bearings. Or you can install a pressure relief valve.

We've been using "Green Grease" at the transit agency for years now. We call it "Green Slim" . The stuff is fantastic ! I tried to buy it for my personal use but could not find anyone selling it for public use. Thanks TB5B for the link !
