    I'm sure you mean "where does the air compressor draw it's air from" correct ? If you look at the air compressor you will see an approximant 2" X 3" square metal housing near the top of the compressor head. That is the filter intake. There should be a course fiber material inside the housing...

    Disconnect the cable and spray some teflon fluid (your choice of brand) in it. Then work the cable back and forth.     You probably will have to drill some different holes to mount it but it should fit in the space of the old one. The fittings will not be hard to change out either.

    I would buy a Bendix "AD-9" dryer and install it. The parts are 1/3 the cost of the military unit and available everywhere.
