There still using the "felt liners" which I really don't like, but it keeps the sound down which is their whole purpose. Hard to clean though. The rears are still steel though. I already added a MAG-HYTEC rear axle cover to mine. Next comes the MAG-HYTEC for the Allison which I already bought...

Yeah, there is that whole warranty thing to worry about. That monitor sounds very interesting. I'll go and check it out. Thanks Floridianson.

It can be fun to just let go and destroy an engine you know is toast ! I still remember doing that to a Dodge 318cid . It never blew up, just sadly slowed down and then froze together. Never to turn over again.

CUCVRUS, you said this has a DuraMax engine. I wonder if it is higher HP and torque then mine ? Does that mean I can upgrade my power too ? Also does it also have an Allison transmission ?

OK now you've gone and done it CUCVRUS !!! I want this truck !!! So that means I must trade-in my new 3500 ! I wonder if I can get the wife on board on this deal ?

After four major back surgeries and then a L-4, L5 spinal fusion I cannot sit for very long anymore without dealing with considerable pain. The new Chevy has a much more comfortable seat then the old 84 has, plus it is so much more adjustable ! So for long distance driving the new Chevy is the...

The "Goodyear DuraTrac" is what I'm running now ! They are great tires ! Cost a little bit more then say the "Cooper's" (which are also a very good tire) but well worth it in my opinion.

I have had great success with GM's "crate" engines. The 383 Hi-torque that is in the CUCV was a really nice investment. It has run extremely well these last 10 years. My earliest truck was a 1936 IHC C-1 pickup. I ended up selling it to my brother-in law who just let it sit outside and rot away...

I have always run an aggressive "all terrain" tire on my CUCV. They seem to work best for all around work.

I know all about pulling on the tilt steering wheel ! That is one really nice thing the new truck has. Maybe I should attach some grab handle on the 1984. I've been driving the old 84 since we got some snow last Sunday. Nine inches of snow out here really brings this area to it's knees ! So I've...

OK, maybe you guys are right. I just need to keep my paranoia under control. But like the saying goes "just because your paranoid doesn't mean that their not out to get you !" . I personally blame the Marines for making me paranoid. Maybe it's because of that tracking chip they put in my brain...

That is very true. I really love my new truck. Is it worth the $74,000 it cost ? I don't know, but so far it has been nice to drive. There is one thing I don't like though. They can track me anywhere I go with this truck. Even though I didn't subscribed to "OnStar" they still track you. That...

I like that remote start too ! I can look out the window and see the crappy weather and then just hit the start button. Then the truck is all nice and warm when I go get in !

I know the transmission can be built up to handle the torque. Almost any transmission can be modified to handle tremendous power. The problem is the cost and the factory is not gong to spend that kind of money modifying their transmissions. Also, if you modify the Allison it can handle...

I know that Dodge has had lots of problems with their automatics behind the Cummins engine. That engine is a "beast" and can make some crazy torque ! Since Dodge cannot use the "Allison" transmission like GM can, their forced to use their less then desirable automatic or a pretty good manual...

That's what I thought to. Then after we paid off the house that freed up enough money to justify buying the new truck. This will be the last new vehicle I will ever own and also it is the first new vehicle I have ever owned ! I have always used old vehicles to drive to work, while the wife got...

Most all manufactures have tried to get out of manuals for some time now. The cost of repairs is extremely high for any manual transmission and with all the trucks coming out with these high mileage warranties the manufactures have had to eat a lot of transmissions from people who don't know how...

Sure. As we all know the 6.5 diesel is a good engine, but it lacks power. So since mine had suffered a severe fire destroying all the electronics I decided to scrap everything and start over. First off the 383HT is one fine engine ! It can tow my 28ft trailer fully loaded with supplies and water...
