Trailer done TRAILER DONE. At least until I get moved in Feb. Thanks for all the advise I got from y'all. As it sits right now I have 12 tie down points per side. 8 tires on the ground. Double redundant brake system. 5 spare tires for the cross country. And a lot of faith that I have way over...

    Deuce trailer build thread

I've been busy the last couple days on the Deuce and the trailer. I'll post pictures tomorrow of the changes but here's the list and some info for those looking to build a trailer for a Deuce. I used the stock M105 trailer master cylinder. I also used the breakaway tank from the M105 too. The...

    Deuce trailer build thread

I ran out of funds and time to put in the drive line. It'll have to wait until I get to Fl or Ga in Feb.

    Deuce trailer build thread

Well here are the pictures of what I've done this past weekend. I weighed it yesterday at the base scales, 7240 lbs. Just a bit more than I planned but that's okay. It'll hold whatever I want to put on it. It's just a little over built. I ended up running duals to handle the extra load on the...

    Deuce trailer build thread

This post is asking for advice. Due to it being the holidays, about to move across country, and also about to retire I can't buy the brake system I was originally going to get. So now I am thinking of making what I have work. I have 4 master cylinders left over from M105 trailers. Here are my...

    Deuce trailer build thread

Well today I did a lot to the trailer. Unfortunately none of it looks like I did a lot. My arms are burnt though. Welding upside down sucks. The sparks always find a way though or around the PPE. So I welded a scab plate to every joint today. I had already put them on top of the joints, now...

    Deuce trailer build thread

I didn't do much that you can see today. I worked on the brakes, the master cylinder I am using got a little junk built up in it from sitting around for the last couple years. So I took it apart and cleaned it all out. It's working pretty good now. I should be able to get it mounted tomorrow. I...

    Deuce trailer build thread

Here are a couple pictures from yesterday. I didn't get as far as I wanted but that's ok. I got the left side center wheel arch brace made and welded in, and the front wheel well brace made and welded in. Like I said not as much as I wanted but it's getting closer.

I am using air over hydraulic brakes. I am going to put discs on the axles in place of the stock drums at some point. I am doing the same conversion to the Deuce too. I am completely removing the stock brake system and replacing it with a more modern set up. With the air over hydraulic system I...

    Deuce trailer build thread

I have been told by my buddies that I have a slight problem when it comes to overbuilding things. I am always worried that it won't be strong enough so I keep adding until I am 100% sure that it'll hold whatever I plan to do with it. As for this trailer I know as it sits it'll hold a truck with...

A couple more pictures from today. Hopefully I have fixed the sideways picture problem.

    Deuce trailer build thread

It's been awhile since I have worked on the trailer but the last couple days I have been working like a mad man on it. Today I got the three braces welded in on the rear between the dove tail and the main frame. I welded in the two dove tail supports, two of the 4 tongue to trailer supports, and...

    Deuce trailer build thread

Thanks for the info on the T-case. I am still trying to figure out the disconnect system. As for the weight. I am putting the tail lights on it tomorrow and a couple extra pieces of steel then going to take it and weigh it. I'm using the scale on Camp Pendleton. So it can take the length and...

    Deuce trailer build thread

The hobby shop on Pendleton is scheduled to close due to budget cuts. The one on Miramar won't let me weld. And the one on MCRD has a welding stall but it's too small to fit the trailer in. So at the moment I'm on hold for the braces and decking.

    Deuce trailer build thread

Today I got the new tongue on. And I took it for a 50 mile drive to see how it tows. It tows straight and smooth. Next is to weld on all the scab plates, braces, and to build the ramps. Then lights and decking. I live in base housing and the manager drove by today though and took pictures of me...

Today I built the fender supports. I have to finish the cuts and weld in a couple more supports but the general idea is there.

    Deuce trailer build thread

I don't have a donor Deuce frame. The axle sections that I have are left over from bobbing Deuces. As for the quick disconnect I really haven't figured out what I am going to use yet for the disconnect.

The dove tail will be just a bit higher when I put the 395's on it and I get it finished. I haven't decided on the length of the dovetail yet. It isn't finish welded yet.

    Deuce trailer build thread

Today was a very long day. I had a few friends over for all the sweet tea they could drink and a free lunch. We got a whole lot done. With a couple hiccoughs. I welded the tongue on the wrong angle. So it's tac welded upside down for now. Tomorrow I'll cut the welds and flip it. And I'm going to...

    Deuce trailer build thread

I plan on hauling my 1992 F350 on the trailer. Which I will eventually get around to finishing. I started the Cummins conversion over a year ago. But as with most things. My stuff gets pushed to the back burner so I can build others peoples dreams. But it pays the bills.
