You have to have setback king pin and a sliding 5th wheel in order to get 20k on a front axle on a 939. More than likely you gotta remove the spare tire carrier as well.
Wrecker springs will increase the load capacity.
Wrecker data plate shown below
Wreckers have a frame reinforcement as well. They just have 7 springs equal to the 2 bottom leafs from the pyramid pack.
I have broken the pyramid spring packs before.
You will probably break axle shafts more than likely. some loggers that use the lwb trucks as bunk trucks break them from time to time.
The specs on the rear axle setup i have are listed below.
Or i mean honestly for more capacity and length. Cut the frame and weld a MK17 or 18 rear unit to...
Yes. The rear axle assembly is rated a 44,000# walking beam. How ever in this country the truck falls under a commercial vehicle in most states. Therefore it can't exceed the bridge formula on a short or standard wheel base truck. A long wheel base truck can exceed the bridge formula due to...
Front axle weight in that book is maxed out by the tires. 14.00s are rated at 9000lbs each. So 18k max with those tires. The front axle and springs are rated at 20k. That bridge formula is based on a standard truck. Now a 6x6 unit. Also it says 20ft between the front axle and rear most axle...
Yes. Have to get a customers broker to clear the shipment into canada. Livingston international is one i use. They can do a one time clearance. I would have to check on freight cost. Would have to remove the lower walking beam bolts and install it on a pallet. LTL may be high. Might check...
Yes. However there are top loader 3rd members that are 5.55 ratio which is a close enough ratio to install in the front axle for it to be used with the 5.57 ratio rear axle of the Mk48. The 3rd members drop right into the 5 ton axle housing.
No. Only 1 axle on the front of an MK48 steers. The other is a solid. On the M977 HEMTT variants both steers turn. But not on a MK48. The Mk48 has a weird steering setup on their steer as well.
I have only ever seen 1 steer available for a mk48. A 5.55 ratio in the toploader is common and...
I will sell anything I have. I was gonna put it in my 923 but i went a different direction.
Its brand new actually for 2500.
It will work. You have to remove the factory x brace in the middle frame and use the one on the bogie. Frame width is the same
You have to locate a 5.55 top...
That is the DOT here in the US for Weight distribution on trucks. It has it for semi trucks as well.
The allison will hold up to it not being rough.
I got 30k mi ea out of 2 allisons i had in the 923 towing with the NHC250. I got 280k out of the CAT 7155 berfore i messed it up doing a repair.
Any o ring needs lubrication. Most dont get it from sitting. You can put a mister on them to oil them continously. Daily operation they are fine.
You can easily put a big cam in a 5 ton. Just gotta redo the front mount.
If its operated daily they are good. I ran one for a long time. You learn to hate em. they are nice to operate. Member Ponway runs one everyday in his western star. Its just a triple countershaft transmission with an air operated valve body. The one in my 5 ton operated great. It brought...
