I *think* there are over 20 sets out there but hopefully M35Tom will let us know exactly.

I don't remember the shop they mentioned though if someone made an adapter, we would know. Made my own jackshaft going from the 1550 or 1600 series joint on the trans to a 1410 on the input of the swapped in fine spline Dodge NP205 unit. The input and both outputs were swapped over to 1410's...

FYI, you got your weight reference on the two transmissions from the JP magazine article that was ripped off from me. The weight of the 3053 is high (the only thing basically I didn't tell him) and is within 5-10lbs max of the NV4500. Something to very much keep in mind when thinking about...

Ha, yep...I redrilled the #2 pattern. Good memory Armydillo! :) The NV4500 I think has an aluminum tail housing but the case is positively cast iron. The problem with marrying the 3053(A) is that the demand is so, so low that nobody will make the kit/investment for all 8 of us that think...

Oh, NV4500 is an externally ribbed IRON case and is within 5 to 10 lbs of the 3053's. The Dodge slip yoke ones had...

Hmmm...you'll need to be more specific since my name is Tom as well. :) You'll need a LOT of engine to pull 4.90's and that tall overdrive. Also, what's the Goodyear tire height so the info can be calculated better? Randy's Ring and Pinion, link below will allow you to put in your ratio's...

I think that torque rating is actually a little high going by the original spicer numbers, from what I've been told. I believe that like everything else they're quite under-rated. Here's an example of the durability of these trannies; my V8 CAT is 225hp and 636 cubic inches. I found where a...
