Checking in again. Finally mostly finished the tiny off grid house and am mostly moved in! Still moving the shop stuff from the old house. Been daily driving the lmtv and tire wear is silly as is 10 mpg! 60 miles from the old to the new! Olga is ready to make the 60 mile trip but with no...
It's been a while since my last post. Somewhat distracted with other military vehicles and building my off grid tiny home. Started Olga the other day when it was 10 degrees and was pleased to listen to that Detroit diesel sing the song of her people! Still haven't found time to paint her. She...
The box is mostly steel, some aluminum. I got it for a few reasons, I could, I'm scared of woodland fire on my remote property and it's weird/rare... I like that... Can't pass it up when it comes my way. I have a problem...
Thanks for the kind words. Yours is much further along in the process. Someday... My turret nozzle is AWOL as well as the foam tank and setup. cant find the primer tank either. More pics of yours would help me know what to look for.
I've been away for a while. Life gets busy. Two jobs, building an empire and playing just a little... Still haven't painted Olga but she does work regularly. Then I got distracted by two other treasures. Made a deal on a 1975 ish FT750W deuce based fire truck. I should be road tripping to get...
The two door versions aren't too difficult to find., I've owned about 6 different ones. The m677 crew cab is a rare beast, around 27 left on the planet... Mine came with the wrong motor so I planted a jeep 360 in it! Goes like stink! 'Twas made for the marine corps, no idea where it served though.
Distraction
Not much progress on Olga lately, this has been calling my name for a while. Almost ready for paint... Yup like most things I own, needs paint...
Thanks for the kind words. This was a new direction for me being such a large truck. I do love her and look forward to driving her to work, the store and everywhere else...
Tested her cold weather starting abilities today and she fired right up! Even had oil pressure almost instantly! Not bad for straight 30wt and 18 degrees! After a few stops, the rear axle locked up and would gradually release after a bit of forth and backness... Happened a few times but not...
Olga has been doing well, drive her now and then, still hasn't painted herself... My parts truck went to the scrap yard, major bummer. I nearly got all I needed from it. Woulda been cool to get the front and one rear axle and the tcase to build a fun toy, cause I need another project...
Took the old girl... Beast... Umm... Truck for a joy ride today and broke the firewall where the hydraulic clutch master cylinder attaches.., Aaargh. Had to shift the no synchro trans with no clutch like a real truck driver... Not hard to fix tho.
