hey guys why isnt anyone saying jake brake its what the semi's use why not make one for the deuce isnt that the ultimate in braking since it doesnt rely on something that will get hot and fade or wear out faster under load.and the thought of a five being good on gas i dont think so three axles...
ya you have to do everything that goes with the mod you are doing its all about the combo.you can say big cams dont work they just dont work with stock torque convertors.you cant say big tires dont work they just dont work with low gear ratios
on your offroad rigs are they your only brake system do you hav spools in those trucks or lockers cuz even lockers give a way for the wheels to go two different speeds and open rearends are even worse
ya dont think full pressure would work since they would be trying to eliminate the other brakes since they would grab faster than the drum brakes cuz they are using the gear reduction of the rearend to help them out which would load the rearend really hard giving you tire hop i'd be really...
i was thinkin with an adjustable proportioning valve mounted in the cab and only give it enough to get things how they were before the bigger tires i really only need it when im hauling a heavy load i thought about using another master cyl and i could hook the pedals together like on a tractor
has anyone that is opposed to pinion brakes actually had them on thier truck or is it what a friend of a friend said .just wondering?cuz everyone is saying how they work when they are used as the only way to stop.but that wasnt the question at hand it was simply if they would give you better...
i am not saying to run just pinion brakes nor was that the discusion it was adding them with the drum brakes in the wheels question is would the stock drum brakes plus pinion brakes give you better stopping and the answer is yes all day would it give you better brakes than 5 tons probably not...
yes the pinion will be turning at 6.2 time the speed of the wheel but the effort to stop it will be 6.72 times less divided by 2 since the wheel brake will be doing over half of the stopping disk brakes disapate heat faster than drum brakes to nascar" stop from over 200 thaousand of times with...
i agree i wouldnt run just pinion brakes but as an add on they would help enough to get the brakes you want since when you need better brakes is ussually when you are really loaded you have alot ot ground pressure and the chance of one side breaking free is very small and just adding it to what...
i am thinking about doing the same thing to my truck im gonna run a split master cyl and pinion brake on the rear diff that i can run off an adjustable proportioning valve . the idea of pinion brakes is they are gear reducted and dont build much heat and give better stopping power the reason...
