Making a Deuce a (better) highway vehicle?

i cant even imagine running a deuce with 11.00s at 45 in high gear you must be lugging the heck out of it be carefull you can throw a rod like that. if you are running those speeds in 4th why not just shift to 5th and take it up to around 55 as that would be around 2400rpm.top speed with 11.00s...

Making a Deuce a (better) highway vehicle?

ya sometimes i go 50 in mine .then i put it in od and take it up to 69mph.Guess i must like changing engines:confused:oh wait i've been driving it over 7yrs like that no problems .Ya i'm sure keeping it under 65 would probably be a little easier on it but the governed them at 2600 for a reason...

Making a Deuce a (better) highway vehicle?

you need to do the math with the 3053 most guys have that trans only gassers had the 3052. my truck will do 69mph with the 46inch tall tires and the 3053trans if i had a 3052 trans my top speed would be around 53. which is slower than it would do stock with 9.00s.the 3052 is to low of a ratio...

Making a Deuce a (better) highway vehicle?

Making a Deuce a (better) highway vehicle?

ya i think i had the price flipped one set is 2200 each the other is 1200..i need some 7.20 gears for my deuce .then i would have a top speed of around 65 and be able to take off in second a little better.or even some 7.50 gears would put me at around 62 for a top speed and that would make me...

Making a Deuce a (better) highway vehicle?

there are only 3 ratios availible for the rockwells used in the deuce.stock 6.72 .there is a 4.90 and a 5.40 availible.rockwell makes probably around 40 different diffs and different types .marmon harrington can make you a front to go with anything but it will cost you big loot.i believe the...

Making a Deuce a (better) highway vehicle?

if you put those rear ends in the back what are you gonna do for the front ?are you gonna lose the all wheel drive .if you're gonna do that you might as well just start with a different truck .why not just get a l9000.

Making a Deuce a (better) highway vehicle?

no those are a front load thru shaft air brake axle on the l9000 they are alot bigger than the deuce axles .a multifuel doesnt have enough torque to push that low of a ratio . you would be sadly let down . those are for trucks with 2000ft lb of torque not trucks with 300ft lb of torque

Making a Deuce a (better) highway vehicle?

i agree i would get rid of the single circuit system too . the lack of stopping power is due to the drum brakes not a lack of line pressure. also drum brakes are not self cleaning and require constant adjusting .i dont know the size of 5 ton brakes but i know the drums on a deuce are not much...

Making a Deuce a (better) highway vehicle?

as far as the disc brakes for the front there are several places that sell kits for the 2.5 ton rockwells. some use f650 rotors some use other rotors .if you do a search on it you will come up with all different manufactures . you also will have to run a proportioning valve-residual valve to...

Making a Deuce a (better) highway vehicle?

power steering from a semi isnt gonna fit on a deuce it will hit the injection pump.there are only a couple power steering pumps that fit on the deuce .they have been talked about in several other threads. do a search you will see what i mean.seats can come from a semi which is what i said in...

Making a Deuce a (better) highway vehicle?

dont forget if you move the axle to the back it will make it harder to turn the steering wheel since it will be putting more weight on the front axle .the way it is with the dual axles the weight of the box is split half is pushing down on the rear picking up on the front while the other half is...

Making a Deuce a (better) highway vehicle?

thats what i would think of the look of a single axle m109 would be to since it would still have two cut outs for the axles it would look like it is missing something . but thats what happens when you get rid of what makes these truck great to try to turn them into soccer mom rides.-500 on the...

Making a Deuce a (better) highway vehicle?

u haul trucks can ussually be had really cheap they have a box and are made for the highway they have a single axle in the back .if you arent worried about offroad why not just get one of them then you will have ac and it will do 70mph.they even have nice little loading ramps too:roll:

Making a Deuce a (better) highway vehicle?

oh no not a unimog .so it will only go 45 and be slow as he-- .and 14.00s will only give you a top speed of around 74mph and they wont fit on a m109 with stock suspension or without a lift .95% of semis run two rear axles and run the highway for millions of miles .how does bobbing it have...

Making a Deuce a (better) highway vehicle?

loosing the middle axle would make it easier to get high centered and would make your turn radious worse to.the tires wouldnt be the issue as far as stablity.two axles distribute the weight to the ground diffently and are less suscepible to soft spots for instance like cross rutting .if driving...
