    Civilian wheel cylinders

I have 6 that have the wrong pistons but otherwise are new. One new kit included with new style spring. Two have the straight spring but have a centering cup both ends. These would work with your pistons crazy guy. PM if interested...I went to 1 1/2". The cups are USA.

    Civilian wheel cylinders

Sure Phil, especially on those hard to find cylinders. Are there ready made sleeves?

    Civilian wheel cylinders

Putting sleeves in sounds expensive. I'll sell 6 new bodies, rubber and springs (3 old design spring and 3 new design) - cheap. Pistons are wrong, not V shaped, so your old pistons need cleaned and installed...all new otherwise. I'm going to the larger size as explained above.

    Civilian wheel cylinders

They look good, inside and out. No markings to even tell where they were made, but the quality seemed to be fine and rubber seemed fresh, new, not NOS. Spring is the new style.

    Civilian wheel cylinders

The larger 1 1/2" cylinder WC-37317 from Oreilly has the proper V piston and spring. I took one apart standing at the counter. I'll have 2 in hand tomorrow. These will be the ones for the rear axle on my A3 4x4. The front already has them. I'll have 18% more area on each piston, but taking...

    Civilian wheel cylinders

It looks like you have the right piston. Mine is wrong. I still would take it apart and confirm the spring. The one I had with the wrong spring was in a Wagner body. If someone can use their pistons, the rest of what I have will work (posted a parts classified). It's not rusted and...

    Civilian wheel cylinders

Take the cover off and look at the piston. Does it have an inverted cone for the push rod? The kit for rebuild will work just fine....if you start with the right piston. I sure wish I had known my pistons were wrong before I ordered a 45 kit and new bleeders. I just ordered one of the 1 1/2"...

    Civilian wheel cylinders

I just got off the phone with Wagner technical. The 3087 number that many of us have used is a casting number and is not the part number. I have seen it referred to in multiple posts but he says that casting could be used in 4 different parts with differing characteristics, one of which is the...

    Civilian wheel cylinders

Problem.....Please see post #8 and look at the second photo. The cups have a center for the pin to fit into and not one of the piston cups on my #3087 have that pin centering feature...they are just flat inside.

    Civilian wheel cylinders

I have not had mine (truck brakes) apart yet. What keeps the pin centered in the (flat) piston cup?

    Civilian wheel cylinders

A note on the spring. All of mine were in Rockwell boxes but I doubt they were original, since there is one with Wagner and USA cast in, 2 that have the 3087 number cast in and 3 that have no country marking (but a number I don't recognize). More import, one of them had the light spring and no...

See the block on post 18 with the banjo bolt? Are you replacing the (banjo) tube connections and are you putting on new tube also? How about the front, will you reuse the banjo bolt and block?

    Civilian wheel cylinders

If you haven't seen it yet, here is an excellent reference; https://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?123335-DEUCE-BRAKE-LINE-REFERENCE-GUIDE-(Sizes-lengths-fittings) I learned my A3 has 1 1/2" diameter front cylinders, not 1 3/8" like the A1 or A2. Hmmm....wonder if the 1 1/2 would work...

    Civilian wheel cylinders

Here is my brake line on the truck and the fitting that came with a couple of the cylinders. On the truck uses a banjo bolt and the tube connects to it. I was hoping to replace the line with new components, but am not sure which fitting to use. There are a lot of brake lines that already have...

    Civilian wheel cylinders

I got mine from GL, so seem to have a mix. I have one without the spring end plate, 4 with it and a straight spring and 2 with the taper spring. Glad I took them fully apart to clean and relube. i will replace the one that seems to be lighter and no steel cup. Edit....ordered the (1) WK-45...

    Civilian wheel cylinders

I don't have all of the bleeder and adapter fittings for mine (Wagner 3087 or equal) . I think the brake bleeder screw is 11596 and the adaptor is 50120 but I can't prove it (that part has an MPT not straight). On the adaptor, it is a 1/2"-20 straight thread and I believe it comes with a copper...

    Civilian wheel cylinders

Box says Rockwell but I can't prove they are. Only 1 says Wagner. I took the one with the most surface rust apart and it was well lubed and had no rust inside at all. It does have the linear spring but note it has an end piece where the end of the spring is not direct to rubber.

Yea clinto...and a good price too. I like the NAPA paint job they show on their website, gloss black, but does it come that way?

    Civilian wheel cylinders

On a side note, I'm getting rust and probably a dry cup. I'll bring them in the house put a bit of brake fluid in them and primer paint them. The wheel cylinder above is a Wagner FD-3087.
