    I don't have anything to add, but if not gaining OD, would stay with the 545, due to weight and size. Axle ratio is what Iwant to change. I would use the 4L80E direct clutch high performance in it.

    We have done well at rebuilding the 1545 and at reasonable prices, The 545 is plentiful and rebuilding them can use the high performance 4th from 4l80e Do I have to go 65.....no...But on my 4x4 with 50/50 brakes, I think it could be safe and fuel efficient for longer trips on today's roads...

    If you were 4x4, changing front and rear ratio and putting in air locks, would be way cool and use the 1545. Maybe Derrik has that core and you put the high performance "direct" clutch of the 4l80e with steel Piston. Even the locking tc can be improved. Edit....had in mind this was an...
