Getting more and more interested in adding turbo to 1008

Started the disassembly getting ready for installation. This is the second time I've tried to turn the injection pump up through the pump window without success. I figured it would be easier with the manifold off. Got fed up quickly and pulled the top off of the pump. MUCH easier. Took some tips...

cshawn07, did you have any interference issues with the injectors/ lines when using the stock 6.5 oil drain pipe? I plan on doing the same thing but read elsewhere that is wouldn't fit. Another question: many of the eBay oil feed line kits use a restrictor orifice in the oil feed line. Is this...

I did. Now I just have to find time to make the drive to go pick it up. Gotta tow my boat up north before I decommission the truck for the project.

Well right before I sprung for that turbo I did one last eBay search. I saw the exact same photo on another turbo from a salvage yard. This seller admitted using a "stock photo" as he called it and was put out when I asked for a photo of his actual turbo so I passed. Back to square one with that...

Found a cheap turbo for sale separately. Does the oil residue on the bottom of the housing indicate a major problem?

If I can't work this $400 deal I'll probably piece a system together as well. A piece or two at a time is definitely more in my price range right now.

Thanks C-30. That is exactly the kind of information that I find most helpful! I'm busy scanning eBay and C/L. Mike

I'd just end up with one turbo. Seller wants $600 for the stuff in the first photo. I found a very similar setup from another seller for $400. No engine, just all of the turbo pieces. Second guy has both manifolds and down pipe but no crossover. Mike

Thank you. I found a similar setup 50 miles from me with no crossover pipe for $400. 200k on the truck it was pulled from. Seems like a lot of miles on the turbo for that price?

Ain't that always the case when building a hobby project? Boats, carts, trucks, and believe it or not, vintage bicycles.

That's helpful, thank you. So if I had both manifolds off the newer truck then the crossover should work? What are the rest of you guys using for manifolds?

Thanks for the response FMJ and also the link to your thread. I did not see that on my searches. I am getting excited about rounding up parts for a turbo install and any pointers would be appreciated an what all I will need for the swap to my 6.2. I now understand the part about mechanical...

Getting more and more interested in adding turbo to 1008

For quite awhile I have not had much interest in doing this since kits run up around $3000. After reading some of the posts around here and looking at used stuff I have become more interested in adding a factory turbo from a 6.5. It also seems that piecing individual parts together may be a...
