Poll - Who has done the Doghead Relay Conversion

Your buddy must have gone with the zip tied 9/16 wrench and under hood Purple-K mod. LOL. I did the doghead mod before I even put my truck on the road. I was not aware of the runaway starter issue before I came here to SS, but I have seen low voltage cause starter runaways in the past, resulting...

Poll - Who has done the Doghead Relay Conversion

Really? No kidding? I don't have to wait for anything, I bypassed the GP card. Never once did I discredit CUCV Electric. They have great products. The original style relay, improved or not, is unreliable. It's a relay, not a solinoid. RELAX!

You can also purchase the very same relay at www.cucvelectric.com for $7.97. Why? I have no idea. In their defence, they do however ask that you read their starter run-on failure article. They also offer the doghead style relay for $9.97. There is no mention of it's amp rating though.

A new stock starter relay? You do understand the whole point in the doghead starter relay mod right? The stock relay is prone to failure. Do the doghead mod, and if you still have a no start issue, search the TMs and threads. This thread is for those who have or have not done the mod.

I like to hear that snap, That way I know it's working and with all that 6.2 clatter going on under the hood one more sound isn't going to bother me. These trucks are spartan and noisey. The D5MXL I run is quieter in the cab.:)

Poll - Who has done the Doghead Relay Conversion

I did it last Sunday as per Doghead's instructions. I used heat shrink terminals and the NAPA part #, It takes about a half hour to do it. Cut, strip and and pinch terminals on four wires and your done, It's too easy! PS follow Doghead's advice, I think he has this stuf figured out.
