I paid less for 7 tires than one new. No shipping either since there's a tire yard right outside of rrad that is within easy driving distance of me. You would be mentally handicapped to buy new ones.
Actually I have looked into the price of these tires new. If I remember correctly somewhere in the realm of $1500 per tire.

They do. The biggest problem with surplus tires in general is we typically don't know the history of them. Whether they were run low of air for a long time or sat flat on a truck for extended periods. Or whatever else can lead to a tire failing. It's the risk you take buying surplus tires.
I wouldn't put a check valve between the compressor and tanks. The deuce compressor puts out dirty air and can gum up the valve. It wouldn't be pretty if it stuck closed.
I have a local hose shop that sells the dot air line and push lock fittings. I'm sure there is someone near you that sells them. If not mcmaster Carr sells them online.
That's not a terrible price. If you ever get caught in a rain storm you will quickly see that they are worth every penny. They are also not failure prone like the air motors.
A 14.00-20 tire works fine on a 7" lock ring rim. It's been done for years. You just need to run the correct tubes. 1300/1400 radial rated tubes.
