These were all 4 mounted on rims already. I just paid to basically have them “rotated” old for new. It’s a local commercial tire shop. When I have had other tires dismounted and remounted has been about $60 including O- ring each. It was $35 each to take the old off and tote the new ones on. My...
Took these two trucks to the "Veteran's Day Ride" jeep event at Uwharrie national forest off road training center with my son. I cannot stress how much better the truck is to drive with the 3:07 gears. Even when it does downshift on a long steep pull 6th gear easily holds 55. Had a great day...
Well a little update, I finally got a chance to take the truck for a drive, and with the HP increase and now the 3:07 gear sets it is a blast to drive. The trans seems to REALLY like the gear swap as far as shift points etc. I also got to see just what a difference the locker in the rear axle...
I was mainly a spectator as I'm still married to my crutches but from what I saw and such they are just stubborn at times, but it was prettt straight forward. Was odd though that when lowering after getting the ubolt brackets off it wanted to roll off the jacks towards the front which seemed...
Looks like the weather is going to cooperate this weekend and with a little help should be able to get the front axle swap and rear diff chunk changed for the new gears. Can't wait for this.
Had the dash out for some housekeeping, and found this. If you look close can even see where they chewed some insulation. Had to wait to get it all apart and fixed with travel and impending rains coming.
Sure do hate rodents.
I just got back from a quick cannonball run to FL scoring these:
A complete new/old takeout with the 3:07 high speed gears and a brand new chunk for the rear including a locker. 27 hrs including 4 hours of naps will be sooooo worth it !
I don't off hand, but I can share the 290 hp serial number and the dealer can help you out there. Then its just that and adjusting the fuel rack and timing. Its amazing.
Well I got the truck back today complete with the standard 290 hp tune and the correct turbo for the 290 version. WOW!!!
Still waiting in the gear change so it doesn't go any faster, but MAN does it get there quick! Climbing hills in 7th with no struggle was SO worth it.
While we were there...
Yep-He took it to the CAT guru to tune it up some and get rid of that annoying Android valve. Hoping for good things in front of the impending re-gear.
Put the truck on the road yesterday. Also put in a rebuilt air/Hydraulics pump. Nice to actually have that working. Also bought the paint to start getting him painted the RIGHT colors.
Was nice to take a good long ride in it.
This is what an injector that has probably seen water get past the fuel filter looks like. It's always had a miss, so I know this happened before me, but shows how important the water / fuel separator is. Running MUCH better now.
Need to adjust the throttle / tranny interface to get the shift...
It seems like I have a dead injector. I just don't have time to mess with it. Took it down to Jim Henry's. If it turns out to be more than that, it may become a part-out. Or.......maybe an 8.3 repower....hmmmmmm
