Some impressions from the early Thursday morning vendor's field and the MKT at the break of dawn,

The next mayor action underway: the bed swap, with 73m819 on the wrecker with Recovery4x4's CUCV getting a new bed. Recovery4x4 gave comment to the pics that I copied here almost unchanged (Thanks Kenny).

048: Recovry4x4's truck getting ready to lose the steel topper and transfer tank.
049: Shows (left to right) Speddmon sitting in his truck, Recovery4x4 stumbling off (his words), 73m819 operating the wrecker, load out Sgt Gimpy and Spec Ops Sgt Robert (rmtaunton).
050: Gimpy holding on to Special Ed's new bed.
051: Speddmon waiting for his bed to be swung around so the hive of workers can bolt it down.

teaser alert: I am off to bed now (just past midnight here) but time allowing tomorrow I will upload a bunch of pics on Andy3's engine swap - part 1.

Two more from Thursday

2014 GA Rally_089c_resize.jpg2014 GA Rally_090_resize.jpg

052: line-up across the street from the registration tent.
Far right is Ferro's white railroad cucv.
Second from right, the darkgreen cucv is Thundercracker's
Second from left is Wheelspinner's camo m1009 driven all the way from NY by his son Gametender

The truck is???

53: hard work at the HQ's tent. SWbradley1 in the pink shirt kept a tight control on all things despite his leisure looking posture. Enjoying the view with SW is JW4x4

2014 GA Rally_143c_resize.jpg2014 GA Rally_143cc.jpg

054: The far left side of the field, with a very young LMTV more to the center. Cropped that one out as detail. Any details like make, proper desingation, owner??

Some more details of Friday's activities and on-goings. Even if I wrote something there already, feel free to add details or comment; I will incorporate it.

059: Breakfast at Mike's ...
060: ... or some coffee on the go. Not quite sure though what the spare parts and the grill are doing there. Maybe a take-away?
061: Some heavy wheeling and dealing going on here. Nice dog.
062: Don't slam the doors ( type and owner?)
063: The Morgans ongoing M129A2C camper project pulled by an M916 LET (mdmorganwife corrected me, its actually an M915).
064: The first family activity I saw: ThunderCracker's wife Sarah and Daughter Anna-Grace playing Old Maid (first did not get it but I looked it up and turned out it is the name of an old Victorian card game in which the loser has to pay for the drinks). In the back Steve6x6x6's bobbed Deuce A3
065: Two more M9.. something trucks. Nice beasts.

I could find some pics and specs but nothing enough together to make a clear ID on those 900 AM-General - CCC series trucks. Somebody fill me in please in simple words?

And some more

2014 GA Rally_156c_resize.jpg2014 GA Rally_152_resize.jpg2014 GA Rally_164c_resize.jpg 2014 GA Rally_689cr.jpg

066: Tow bar anybody? Speddmon's cucv with its new bed already put to devious use in nightly raids for firewood.
067: Wreckerman getting ready to set up shop
068: I risk being banned here but this Peterbuilt was a very close contender for King of the Rally for me. Should have had a decent sleeper behind it though. M&R Freight from Alabama. Owner and some more details on this beast? The Sunday morning picture (unnumbered) just before departure show its passengers; an M38 and a 5-ton?.

2014 GA Rally_165c_resize.jpg2014 GA Rally_158c_resize.jpg2014 GA Rally_155c_resize.jpg2014 GA Rally_173_resize.jpg

069: An M37, Friday it was standing between the Peterbuilt and the cabin.
070: Patracy's SEMTT and Wheelspinner's 5-ton after a day at the races
071: This was laying behind the HQ - Reg area. Lost and Found items?
072: Butch (bchauvette) coming back from some fun in the "Mog".

2014 GA Rally_146_resize.jpg2014 GA Rally_162c_resize.jpg

073: Time for some munchy munchy again.
074: Swiss has arrived with his family and evicted Ferro and me. He had brought a nice tent for me to sleep in as alternative (Thanks!). Worked a treat but the only problem was that the bed did not fit anymore. Oh well, just the mattress with blankets and my own sleeping back works as well. The bed I put in the back part of Ron's duplex with my suitcase, an ideal place for a quick quiet catnap.

Robo, #66 was only 1 towbar. That was my truck the day after Kenny and I switched the beds around. You can still see the wood chips in the bed from where Gimpy and I procured firewood the night before. Oh, and a beer or 30 might have been drank that night as well.

. I was very upset I missed the fire. I thought it was coming Saturday. I think I went to bed too early every day and missed some parties.

The RT closed shop at 0200 every day but Saturday. We made that a short day and closed up shop at 0100.

OK Andy, here goes

A series about the first day of Andy3's engine swap, the mayor technical action of the rally.

2014 GA Rally_093_resize.jpg2014 GA Rally_092_resize.jpg2014 GA Rally_091c_resize.jpg2014 GA Rally_103c_resize.jpg

075: Andy3's Deuce M35A2 waiting for its engine swap. It sat sadly alone on the repair field for the first few days until the action started.
076: The old engine: kaput. Broken camshaft. Oddshot is doing a very interesting post-mortum on it. The red sticks on the right of the picture are civic whatyemecallits to keep the hood open and let it come down slowly. Interesting idea.
077: Spec Ops Sgt Robert (rmtaunton) taking a final look before ordering "All Hands". In the back Coffey1's 5-ton 1984 M923 providing auxiliary equipment.
078: The work table for storing the nuts, bolts and artifacts as the come of the truck

2014 GA Rally_095_resize.jpg2014 GA Rally_102_resize.jpg2014 GA Rally_100c_resize.jpg2014 GA Rally_079_resize.jpg

A first look at the main players.
079: Robert (rmtaunton) is supervising while Robert (Robo McDuff) and Coffey1 are taking some things apart.
080: Coffey1 (Ken) getting up to speed with removing things ....
081: ... while Butch is watching next to his Mog
082: some discussions or just hanging around?

some key players in lack of action

Some of the key players taking it easy

2014 GA Rally_113c_resize.jpg2014 GA Rally_121c_resize.jpg2014 GA Rally_248_resize.jpg2014 GA Rally_258c_resize.jpg2014 GA Rally_118c_resize.jpg

083: Andy (Andy3) wondering if this really was a good idea to let these complete strangers have a go at his truck
084: Spec Ops Sgt Robert (rmtaunton)with his usual grin using the fender to get comfortable.
085: Checking out which parts should be replaced on the new engine.
086: Ron (73m819) taking it easy waiting for the moment he can come in action. As usually, he was summoned a bit too quick.
087: Ken (Coffey1), taking a brake for a cigaret as well.

2014 GA Rally_119c_resize.jpg2014 GA Rally_099c_resize.jpg2014 GA Rally_109_resize.jpg2014 GA Rally_125_resize.jpg2014 GA Rally_115c_resize.jpg

088: Ferro aka Adam (Ferroequinologist, who, supposedly likes trains even more than MVs, or at least likes to play train and drive with his Cucv on railroad tracks). I think nothing can destroy that man's smile.
089: Butch (Bchauvette) looking critical, always ready with some good advice or a quick remark to lighten the spirits.
090: Sometimes underneath the truck is the best place to be for a quiet nap.
091: you can say that again. Robert (Robo McDuff) taking it easy as well.
092: No comment needed here, I would say.
