Anybody ever put a 353 detroit in a m37...

I have been searching to no end. What 5 speed mates to the Detroit?
I have a chance to get a 353 but is an old water pump so no tranny/ bellhousing.

For Detroit parts check Leid Brothers in Greencastle, PA. They don't call them screamin jimmies for nothing. Had a 6K RTFL with a 4-53 and that was rowdy.

Two years ago at the Clare Mi MV show there was a guy from Wisconsin with a 4 cylinder Detroit in it.

You will love the sound until you have to live with it. How do I know? Living with Gama Goats. They cause long term hearing problems unless you religiously wear good ear protection, It depends where you live i suppose, but that one in the video wouldn't get 500 feet without getting pulled over here. The cummins is a far more livable choice.
