Valence and I went on a offroad trip out to an offroad area nearby, his m35a2 and my m816 wrecker. Many different trails out there varying from easy wide open desert to challenging rock crawling. Camped out overnight with perfect fall weather, highs in the 70's and lows in the upper 40's with not much wind.

Back at the trail exploration on saturday. Wrecker in the lead for brush clearing (theres enough branches in the bed/cab to grow a sage brush forest hahaha)

Headed down towards the flats and found a small playground to enjoy. Sat around for a bit while the 4 wheelers had some fun then we went through some of the areas

That looks like a blast!!!!

Hey Red, that hammock looks familiar... I'm guessing it's the same one you used at the TX Rally a couple years ago?

Valence - What did you think of off-roading with the extra weight of the gun ring above your cab? Did it cause any issues?

It certainly was! I loved it. A bit tiring though not having true power steering (air-assist "only").

Honestly, I didn't really notice the gun ring weight, but the ground was completely dry and hard so that was nice. Certainly the front end is heavier but we didn't have much for off-camber driving either. The gun ring seemed very solid and the cab stayed very sturdy (I have the cab reinforcement plate and a little extra reinforcement too). My truck seemed very stable (extra camping gear/fire wood in the bed helped a bunch I'm sure. Every pound helps).

We camped just on top of this next hill that had taller hills on either side. As red said, we didn't get much wind at all. Very little fire smoke in the face. :p

My sleep setup:
Carpet on bed floor + cot + blanket padding + sleeping bag + another blanket + medical chest as a night stand + Mr. Heater = Super Cush! [thumbzup]
(Though the low ceiling height makes the back quickly tired of bending over)

Amazing pictures, great video, I am so jealous, that looked to have been a really inspiring drive out, camp over, and 'event horizon'. You snug as a bug in a rug..red, enjoying? the raw camping sensation. Ether way. Perfect.

Warm and cozy in that setup, apparently I started snoring a bit soon after laying down haha. There was 4 parts to my setup :Hammock, 1 sleeping bag wrapped around it as a under layer (ACU camo), the sleeping bag I was in (green), and the waterproof bag (woodland camo).

Wanting to take these trucks offroad like this much more often. Around here there is not much mud to worry about except for right by the lakes and you can travel slow/controlled down the trails. Spent most of the trip in low range 1-2-3 running from idle to 1,000rpm with the wrecker. This area is nearby with trails everywhere of different challenge, so we will be making more trips like this for certain.
