Where is the best place to drill and tap to steal oil flow from on a 6.2 liter block?

Oil returns where the stock fuel lift pump goes, after it gets replaced with an in-line electrical unit.

Retired, I absolutely agree, but I have an opportunity to try something here. If it works... great. If not, You are THE first person I will call re.: engine swap logistics and parts.

tage - Before I put my foot squarely in my mouth, let me see if this concept works.

I always take RWH seriously. He is quite knowledgeable.

I was supposed to have access to a 6.2 dead longblock today, but apparently it was scrapped without the junkyard owner knowing.

I now either need to pull apart my functioning 6.2 or find another dead 6.2 in the New York City area. :/

will most definitely be easier, and cheaper to do it right the first time. Home brewed turbo set ups are quite expensive once you piece it all together. especially when you buy everything to replace everything from the first attempt. keep it simple stupid. find a complete surplused turbo engine and 4 speed package deal. Or cummins swap the sob :p

The picture in post 5 showing how to put a T on the oil psi sender unit. Also shows another pressure supply port. The upper most of the holes above the oil filter has a plug in it on your block. A square 1/4" tool is needed to remove it. A 1/4" socket extension might almost get it out but will probably just bugger up the plug enough that it will have to be drilled out.

Then, as mentioned above. All of the 6.5 blocks have a port in front of the passenger side cylinder head to pull pressurized oil from.

you will not,be satisfied with anything you do to a 6.2, just going with an optimizer 65 is a huge advantage, let alone a 65 turbo that will set you free....

I have a very nice 1500 mile complete Turbo 6.5/4L80e/NP242 drivetrain for sale in the NYC area. I also have most of the ancillary items need for the swap. PM me if interested.

The later model 6.2's also had the plug on the front end of the block between the head and the timing chain housing. This is where the Marine 6.2s and the truck GM 6.5s get their turbo oil supply. This is the best place to get a oil supply from. Because the port is AFTER the cam bearings get their supply. The port at the back is for the pressure gauge not for flowing oil. Using that location WILL starve the cam/ lifters/and rockers. Starving these parts will get expensive soon. As BARMAN stated. You can also get supply from the port next to the cooling lines.
