We would like to pass on a experience with the GENERAC RTS we had some time ago.
One of our customers had a local electric company install our ATS and Autostart Kit in his MEP 803A System, but the problem experienced is universal and somewhat funny.
After the local electrician installed everything, he tested the system with the RTS Front Cover removed and everything worked well.
He then proceeded to close the Front Cover
The next day the Customer called us and told us that he had a power outage and the automatic emergency power didn't come on but the Generator was running
After some initial trouble shooting I asked the customer to remove the Front Cover of the RTS and check if there was a yellow rod in the slot
He said yes, so I explained the issue:
The electrician had inserted the manual lever into the RTS and left it when he closed the Front Cover of the RTS
When the Generator Power came on, our system was trying to switch the large contactor to Emergency Power, but because of the Front Cover and the Manual Lever, the Contactor got stuck in the open position
Once the Manual Lever was removed and the front cover put back in place, everything worked fine
