Just a few pictures of my project it took awhile do to a illness in the family the last two years. Finished it July 2nd in time for Operation Welcome Home in Auburn In. Thanks to John Dodd From VA. Who showed up three days early to help put it back together after I had painted it.The truck runs great, it runs better then exspected. It was at KOKOMO IN. Howard County Vietnam Reunion in Sept. along with the WILDTHING Guntruck. It's my first paint job how can you mess up O.D green and hardly any runs . The engine is at 5ton spec's , timming ,turbo ,exhust, has locking hubs on the front ,from (Offroad fabworks) and the fuel turned up . It's turned up the same as The WILDTHING and it's been on the road now 4 years as of Aug 28th .Been as far west to Branso MO. east to Fort Eutis VA. and just got back from Pigion Forge TN in Aug. Till Later Randy

RE: 1970 Duce restored ,with a 7041 spicer aux gear box

How you like the OD box? Does the driveshaft to the first back axle have enough travel for off-road? Looks really nice on the paint.

Stretch The rear Shaft is 12 inches1/4 The front shaft 8 inches 3/4 I had them built at FORT WAYNE CLUTCH & DRIVE SHAFT . IT set what they call runnings spec's So the answer is Yes. It's a male and female spline not really any shaft in between. The Aux works great .I sent you a e-mail with more info Thanks Randy

Kenny It runs 62MPH at A little less then 2300 pretty steady on a 2 1/2 hour run up Inter state 69 up threw IN. Had the escort truck on Cruise. 68 at about 2700 . Seems to be 2 mph for every 100 rpms.' real close anyways .Like I said in my e-mail the local cops are going to use thier radar gun on me when we get time.Right now just using my 2003 ford truck on cruise and staying with it. There's got te be away to get the speedo up to speed' got to figure that out. Till Later Randy

I love it!

Have you had it offroad? I would be concerned about driveshaft angle at max (or even significant) axle articulation.

Clinto I agree I told Stretch in an e-mail I do events and Parades moderate off road nothing extreme. I took it out on my land got it twisted and threw a few ditches to see what the shaft would do as far as movement . It dose ok, not like your pic.

Looks great Randy. Was the OD box hard to locate or expensive? How do the axles do running a little quicker? My M275A2 used to sling out some oil when running over 60 but I probably had them overfilled anyway. I like this option for over the road travel.

Looks fantastic. I had been wondering if anyone had done a some kind of auxiliary transmission or splitter. As a noob, I must ask, do these have a divorced transfercase?

Yes, they do have divorced transfer cases.
That is what I thought. THe only duece I have actually climbed around on was a 54 M211 water tanker and it did have a divorced transfer case. Had been sitting for several years.

Anyway, would it be possible to put in a two speed splitter unit in between the transmission and the transfer case? Believe, me, I like what he did with the auxiliary box, but as someone mentioned that might not have the articulation that some would want. So would it be possible to stick a splitter box in between?

Kenny The 7041 spicer I used seemed a little harder to fined at least in this area. I found it at Ted Rowes salvage in Wason Ohio . 1 419 337 1606 . He only had the one , he had 4 6041 spicers which has a .86 high . and smaller in size by at least a 1/3 . more duce size . I wanted the .83 high. Mybe for more off road the 6041 might be better it is shorter by 3 or 4 inches to get a longer shaft. I paid 750.00 for the 7041 with all the mounts and cross memebers. I did use the mounts but made my own cross memebers. The 6041 's are around 500.00 in this area.I have hadn't had any trouble with rear end seals at all.I have mybe 1000- 1200 miles on it , but mostly highway . If you can do the work yourself it would be worth your time. Thanks for the comments. I didn't think to much about the shaft size for alot of off road use. I just have one lever I can go from high which I leave it in most of the time to direct if I want to engage the front wheel drive. It is a four speed Aux ,I don't care about the other gears. Thanks Randy

There should be the same room, he didn't move the axle's back. If your bobbed truck has the axle in the same spot as the front tandem axle.
