new from MD

I am closer to the Ag Center...There are a few members close ...and it looks to be growing...

I use to shoot a little till ammo prices went thru the roof..and no range worth going to..

I just wanted to update I officially have a paid for m923, now if I can get it home before my 10 days are up. I will be taking lots o pics of truck and keeping as good of records as I can of the bob job to follow. For now here is a gl pic of my truck.

I should point out I'm kinda a tire fanatic, my wife tells me I have a fetish for them lol. I already have 2 sets of 395's to try out on truck as well as 425/65/22.5 cement truck goodyears that I'm shopping for rims for in junk yards and ebay(trying to find the old stud piloted front wheels).I will also be keeping the stock tires to run on truck from time to time as well as looking for 16.00's and yes I have handled these tires in past I know they are heavy as He!!.

Welcome. I am not far from you, either. I live in Damascus, MD. I have a really nice 395...about 90% tread...if you need another tire (no rim, though). I have a few 5 tons at my house that you are welcome to look over (not for sale), including both 6CTA- and NHC-250-powered trucks.

Thanks guys BKubu is your 395 a goodyear or michelin ? I'm selling some 395 michelins and plan to put my MVT's on truck, I would love to check out your trucks as I have said on here I wanted a A2 truck for the 8.3 but thought I should get what I can afford not sit around wishing I had the money for a 8.3 truck.

DieselBob the truck is coming out of fort lee va,close enough to recover and it runs and drives but I would rather tow it till I can change out all fluids and really look it over you know (especially with how I have read most of the auto's are filled with 15-40.....)

ty scarecrow I like the looks of the a1 trucks for sure but never really loved the 14.00 tires that come on them and the a2's. I like the shorter fatter look of the 395s and ofcourse the hugeness of the 52's, when i had my 425's on my chevy i joked with everyone they were just a big Goodyear AT truck tire.

I'm over in Annapolis, MD. I own, but have not seen my M923A2. It's in Sparta, WI. If I drive it home (1,000 miles) I'll probably take interstate 68/70 on the way home. Transporters are quoting $3 a mile which I can't stomach. I got 10 days to figure it out. It's good to hear good things about the A2. I had a m813 and the transmission was failing so it was brutal to drive. I look forward to the auto trans, assuming it works..... You have a bunch of MV owners up near Eldersburg, MD too. They meet for breakfast once in a while. Search on Eldersburg, MD to find them. A few of those guys have saved my butt when I broke down....

ha ha I looked at few in sparta but getting them home seemed like a big task, they were about only place with steady stream of A2 trucks though. My m923 is sitting @ bikemans right now waiting to get a tow, I keep thinking about driving it but I cant afford a ticket or break down (tow bill will be bad enough).

I think your wise to tow it. I bought an M813 from Ft Meade, had a friend with a landau trailer [spelling] go with me to get it. Was a no worry trip and well worth the money. Got home put batteries in it and fired it up.

yeah I keep thinking about towing it but I might just drive it, bikeman has been great and went over truck only problem is a shimmy (possibly from tires being low for awhile) at 45 but is off and on. So far I think he has driven truck over 1 hr and had no problems so I think I can get it home with no issues as long as I watch speed and take fluids with me, anyone who wants to help with trip or if anybody had a towbar I could call on would be great. As I have put before I cant get md tags for it till I have title in hand so I may have to go with the plastic farm use tag on it or no tag and just keep BOS on me.

Estimates for tow bill have been between 450-700 and thats cash that could go towards getting truck on rd @ dmv.

My thought is if I do have problem and it needs towed atleast it will be closer to home so bill should be lower.

If you can get the truck towed for $450, you better jump on that. I'd imagine that the fuel bill would be close to $200.

Not sure if any of the Maine trailer registration companies can do anything for you, but I'd check before making a drive around the DC Beltway to get to I-270. Too many scales and other PoPo hot spots to go thru.

Do you know anyone that owns or works at a used car lot? You might be able to borrow a temp or dealer tag.

no dont know anyone I can get a dealer tag from i thought about it lol. the truck is 210 mi from me if it gets 10 mpg (what i have seen most people state) that would be 21 gallons of fuel 21x$4.00=$84 in fuel for truck and my car gets 35mpg so it wont use much to go down and back.

No I wouldnt be doing beltway it would be 95 north to 17 then 17 to 81. I submitted for my sf97 since truck was removed from gl lot so i may be able to get tags for it quicker than thought, trying anyhow.

problem before seemed to be GL wouldnt let me do a sf97 without picking truck up but I had no way to get tags without title, so with truck off gls lot and at bikemans i might be able to get tags, run down, put tag in window and drive it home.

well I got truck to my parents! I got home 15 mins after midnight drove 14 hrs total down and back in rain and towards end sleet. Truck ran 100%

ok picture time, first one is sitting at bikemans I had popped hood to fill power steering next ones are sitting in my parents driveway. I suddenly dont think my moms dodge ram with 4.5" lift and 35's is all that big anymore lol.

well I did find 2 22.5x12.25 stud pilot wheels to go on truck, still hunting for 2-3 more but currently sitting at home with one **** of a cold so wont be updating much for awhile. i had just got my bobber springs too !

I currently have the rear crossmember unbolted, all wiring labeled and disconnected and the tire crane,spare mount,muffler and bed are off truck so it can be bobbed as soon as i feel better and weather is warm enough.

ok well I got my 2 425/65/22.5s mounted up (had to buy a 1" impact to get lug nuts off after twisting the head off a 3/4" breaker bar)

I also have my 6" CAT stacks on truck with stack box to help with drone, still need to paint them black and finish up a set of supports to help keep them from wobbling around at tops. I also took the stock flex connector from stock stack and re-mounted it under truck cab and welded 4" 90 elbow to it so the stacks can move a bit without leaks. I also decided to go ahead and get a set of 52's for truck since the 43's just dont fill up fender enough (still look better in person than the factory 11r's did up front though).
