1986 (Chevy 6.2) Eagle Bobtail MB4 Power Steering

Hi everyone!

Posting this here based on where the other threads relating to this vehicle have popped up. Sorry if I’m in the wrong spot.

Looking for some information regarding a power steering pump off of the vehicle listed in the title. It’s failed on me, and I have been trying to search the numbers on the pump itself with no luck. Is there a place I have missed where I can find manufacturing and/or technical information? Pump shops have been unable to help with anything, and I have yet to find a suitable substitute. Are these pumps some kind of unobtainium now?

Here are the numbers I have pulled off of it (listing numbers correspond to the red ones I put in the photos to help decipher)
Any characters in parenthesis() is just my best guess as to what it says.

Painted numbers:

1: 19954/(E)R1727(9)-(1)(1)

Stamped numbers:

2: R(S)M5
4: C-4

Cast Numbers:

3: HESL CW

Misc.

5: 43 92R

Any info/corrections/assistance is greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time!

MFR 55683 is wheeler brothers. Still listed on the internet.
19954/FR17270-41 is how I read the part number. Not having any luck with that yet. Still no luck locating manuals so far. Data plate pictures will help with that. Also see if the sticker in the glove box is still legible, it may help also.

Ok, cool. It is a civ version of the truck. Only one alternator. The pump that failed is for the rear steering, I do not know if the rear steering hydraulics interconnect to the front steering. Is there a separate tank for the rear steering?

Good to know. When looking up Wheeler Brothers, what pops up is a pressure washer company (and not Wheeler Brothers, just Wheeler). Is there a more specific name or address I can type in to get what you came up with?

Here are the data cards you requested (or the best I can do). There was not one on the inside of the cab door frame itself, but I did find other ones which may prove useful (plus both glove box stickers).

Note: Photo A and one door tag is from one vehicle, while photos B,C, and D are from another. The other door tag is from a third we have around. They are all the same style/power train so I hope these are useful.

Any characters in parenthesis() are just my best guess.

Interesting. There is only one reservoir tank for the pump, and a lever in the cab to change where the pump connects to (front, crab, or articulated steering)

A buddy of mine had one of these a few years back. Very neat truck but wildly limited because of it's single duty usage. The three steering settings are cool and super handy for getting into tight places. The t-case on his was locked in low range so you only had that speed with no option for...

The power steering for the front wheels should come from the standard chevy pump located low on the drivers side of the engine. You can almost see the filler cap in your first pic (post #4) below the thermostat housing.

Yep, I see what you are talking about. As I understand though, that driver side pump is for the brakes/hydro boost. There are not any common lines for the two systems. That standard pump is only connected to the master brake cylinder as best as I can tell.
