Selling the 1990 BMY M923A2 Truck I bought at auction from a National Guard base in September 2011. I am an ex Army helicopter mechanic and a retired Naval Aviator. This is my fourth military truck - I progressively moved up to a better vehicle. I previewed this one before the auction and bid to win - it was absolutely, the best 5 Ton I had ever seen. This truck had full Army Depot level rebuild/remanufacture with a rebuilt Cummins turbo engine, rebuilt Allison transmission, new Goodyear tires, bucket seats, and the ROPS, Roll Over Protection System, a 3” and 3-1/2” totally non magnetic stainless steel roll cage. The increased height o the roll cage necessitated a higher cab roof, resulting in the “Frankencab” nickname.
My buddy and I did an incredible number of mods including, custom engine air intake, air conditioning, LED headlights, electronic light switch, rear and side lights replaced with LEDs, fog lights, side flood lights, back up lights, interior light, fan, camera system with rear view, right side, and front cameras and 9” screen, three commercial truck toolboxes, cargo crane, on board 24V battery charger, battery cutoff switch, Humvee light bar that can light up the world, tailgate ladder, civilian 2-1/2” trailer hitch, etc. Batteries were replaced a few years ago. The Goodyears have a 3610 date, meaning the 36th week of 2010. Additionally, I have a set of 6 unused Michelins with a 2111 date or better. The winch from a M925 had been installed on it, never used and was removed for overall convenience. It is available if you want it.
This truck is fabulous, has just over 10,000 miles on the odometer, but I bet it is actually less. I can’t currently find documentation on it, but believe the truck only had about 500 miles on it after rebuild when I bought it. My use has been pretty minor, around town to Home Depot, Veteran’s Day parades, etc. It is insured, garage kept, and has a Florida Antique license plate. I have the paper TM manuals and a stack of receipts. On the delivery drive, she got 7.65 miles per gallon. These ROPS trucks are incredible and rare. Asking $35,000 OBO.If interested, please PM me, then we’ll talk about it by phone. If you want to reach me regarding any other MV, that’s fine, too. Cheers!
