So basically 900's will be just fine as long as I dont panic brake or drive like a male donkey?

As others ^^ said, the air brakes in the 900 series trucks are fine, the primary cause of accidents is driver ~inexperience/error.

The 50 MPH speed rating on the big tires is for when they are fully loaded. At that point heat becomes an issue. You can't get enough weight on a deuce or 923 with 395s, 1400s, or 1600s for heat to become an issue.

So really it comes down to physics + driver ability and training.

70 MPH down a straight, dry, empty road, perfectly safe. Factor in corners, slippery surfaces, other vehicles and donkey carts and drunks lying in the road? 40 MPH looks a lot better.

Those brakes need to stop the truck fully loaded or unloaded, and they do that. The grey matter controlling that right foot on the brake or accelerator has to do it's job properly too.

Any farm kid with experience hauling potatoes, hay, or grain can jump behind the wheel of these trucks and operate them safely. We just aren't turning out many of those anymore.

All it takes is a driver operating in a professional manner.
