What started as a transmission swap from the old 3052 to the 3053A turned into a full clutch, pressure plate and flywheel machined job. Since I was waiting on parts I figured I’d fix the rear seal leak. Well…. On the REO 331 you have to pull the oil pan to remove the rear seal carrier. So then it was more waiting for the gaskets. Ok, it’s down for a little longer, let’s replace the steering knuckle boots with the good ones that don’t have zippers. Good thing I did because both front wheel cylinders were leaking. So, several weeks later, the front axle is all back together, the oil pan is done and hopefully next week I’ll be done with the original trans swap! I also swapped to a spin on full flow oil filter and replaced a leaking exhaust gasket. Ole Blue is going to feel like a new truck!
