Aircraft Tow Tractor Eng/Trans Swap?

There's a Dodge type aircraft tow tractor on GL about 50 miles from me, that's almost next door in GL terms, and I'm sick of bad multifuels (just bought and swaped in a 'good engine' that has a bad bottom end!) but that's another story...

Does anyone know what kind of transmission is in these tow tractors? The stock type 727 w/overdrive for the tailhousing or a heavier duty set up? I'm willing to deal with mounts for the automotive type drivetrain and add the air comp for a 5.9 Cummins with an automatic transmission. Even the stock trans. doesn't scare me, I've got a '91 with 300k and the STOCK trans in it, plenty of equipment and hay pulling done over the years, though it has a few 'issues' of late...

Also, this tractor is listed as 'H7' and I know that's a gamble... Anyone buy anything lately off of Eglin that was H7, was it really H7?

Thanks for your time.

Event #2653, Lot #1364... Though I'm not sure I want it anyomre now that it's gone over the $2G mark, H7 and all! Pretty well wrecked Dodge CTDs are $1-10+G, depending on the year, extent of damage and title status, at the insurance sale... Hell, at that price I've got this one at the barn that I'd pull the drivetrain out of it it wasn't the main fuel/tool/beer hauler around here. Face it, a Duece isn't the thing to go to the store on, especially with the help driving!!

Maybe I need to lurk at the bar looking for keys in the ignition  !!
