Do the Allison MT654CR transmissions in the M939 series of trucks have retarders in them? I have seen talk about them being equipped but not hooked up for operation. Is this true and if so what is needed to make functional? It sounds to me that this and an exhaust brake would be helpful when climbing around the mountains of Utah. Thanks for any help.

Allison trans retarders?

I called our local allison dealer told me that it's not equipt for a trans retarder on our mt654cr trans. He said the CR stands for close ratio. He suggested either and exhaust brake or a telma retarder.
