Fleece Filter install

Today I installed a Fleece FPE-34133. The filter Dimensions: Flange: 5" | Base: 9" | Top: 8" | Overall Height 8.3” 8 Ply. Still waiting on a response from Fleece on the oil recharge requirements and the CFM rating. I heat stretched the 5” flange with the original filter support that I removed. I heated with a heat gun and it slipped right on after the stretching process. After hauling for two weeks straight I’ve noticed 100-150 EGT drop. The reason I swapped from OEM was High EGTs and popping the filter indicator on a particular hill with a clean new OEM filter. Figured I’d share this and will make an updated post when I get long term data. 29CB91E8-CD9B-4EFC-8741-480615DDBA91.jpeg

Interesting. The EGTs fall with the oiled pleat filters usually because they simply don't filter as well. Not sure that matters in a reasonable environment low on dust.

They are much better than no filter but if independent testing is to be believed they fall way short of paper filters when it comes to keeping abrasive particles out of the intake.

If the paper filter can't handle air flow at WOT it is likely undersized. I remember reading that there are aftermarket paper filters that fit the Deuce but have lower ratings for airflow. Maybe that was the problem?

I was thinking the other day how to get more air to the motor. The 5 tons have the fender filter, how much bigger is that than the stock M35 unit?
