I followed the TM to see what causes my GEN 2 light to stay on dimly when engine running. Ran the tests:

Driver side Alternator putting out 14.7 volts at idle.
Passenger side alternator putting out 30.1 volts at idle.

Rear battery reads 15.3 volts.
Front battery reads 14.7 volts.

My voltmeter on the dash is at the very top of green, barely into red overcharge.

Why is the GEN 2 light on if it is putting out voltage?

Electrons are a mystery to me. H.

The voltage regulator on GEN2 is bad. It is putting out too much juice. The limit is 14.8v, you are getting 15+

voltage should be between 13.9-14.5v. at idle.( with good fully charged battery, check individually)15.3 volts will boil the water out of the battery eventually. regulator might be bad in the one alternator. change batteries around and see if it does the same. take off the suspect alternator and get it checked.(autozone) regulators are not hard to change. thanks. mark
