Never done it. Glad I never did. May I recommend if this is happening you have other issues. Hard starting vehicle and low amperage batteries. That is the only time it ever happened to any CUCV I know. And I have seen Fords and other vehicles with a HD solenoid relay do the same thing. Ever see anyone beat a Ford solenoid that is stuck closed or will not engage. Just keep up on the maintenance and this issue will keep itself in check. How could it be it lasted all these 30+ years and this is the magic bullet. It's not. It is a very HD relay doing a LD job. And read on they fail also. Nothing is infallible. Have a Great Day. Get both batteries properly load tested and find out why you are cranking the engine starter so long you are welding the relay contacts together.

Right. All I know about this truck is what I have repaired that was broken. I did a manual glow plug system, fixed wiring issues and reconditioned the batteries to 100%. That produced an easy starting truck with very little cranking. I have a long list of other issues but, now I feel I could take it out and drive it around town and return.
