Grill recon or replace?

Anyone strip paint off their grill without ruining it? Mine came to me as a peeling mess with at least 4 layers of paint.

I see after market grills are available, should I just replace and hang the old one on the wall in the shop? Or strip this one and repaint?

I've pained a lot of grilles but never stripped one down. I think almost any chemical stripper will effect the plastic, you may end up with a puddle on the floor and nothing else! Next question, do you really want to spend hours scraping and sanding brittle 40-year-old plastic?
Personally, I'd be ordering a grille today, never know you might get a black Friday deal!

One of the main things to consider is the condition of the original plastic, they do tend to break easily now. As mentioned above, I'd probably go for a replacement unless you are a super stickler for originality. ;)

Cheers

Brake fluid (DOT3/4) works great and it will not harm the plastic.Only it will take way longer compared to paint stripper...

Good luck
