Head bolt torque

I assume on a non TD block if the head bolts are over torqued, the top of the head deforms or the threads pull. Does anyone know? I wonder if it would help to put keen sert or time serts in the head to increase the amount of cast iron the fastener is pulling on.
Are studs for TD blocks longer?
