Help With M880 Brakes please

I just replaced the front brakes on my 1976 M880. I replaced the pads, outer hoses, and calipers.
According to Chiltons..."The inboard shoe(pad) must always be installed on top of the retainer spring plate".
I am unable to figure out how to do this. When I pulled the wheels the retainer spring plate was simply straight across with the anti rattle spring installed over that under the bolt.

Can someone please help with pics? The Chiltons and the TM are of no help in sorting this out for me.
I don't want to ruin the front brakes again.

Thank You

I missed this post from the 12th, if assist is still needed, I can look it up.

Chiltons, has been known to and can have incorrect info occasionally.

IIRC, there is only one way it goes together.
