Take your fist and pound one time right in the center on the front of the hood, this is of course after pulling the cable release in the cab. It is something I have found common on older GM trucks.

I concur with David. I've had to pull a "Fonz" on many of the CUCV hoods. For those to young to remember Happy Days, Fonz used to pound his fist on the juke box to make it work. :) You may have to try it a few times as I have some pretty stubborn hood releases.

There is usually a sweet spot. My old rustbucket, was on the drivers front corner... My 1009 is pretty much dead center. Have also had them where if you slam the door, they will pop too...

My old truck did that on a regular basis...whenever you NEEDED to get under the hood. A few times, did the Fonz move and it didn't work, tried and tried, start to walk away, POP the hood opens! Gremlins. I put never sieze on the latch and striker. Worked great 'till it got full of dirt/mud.

I like to refer to it the Fonz maneuver as "Percussive Maintenance". It's good for all sorts of things. When I was kid, my dad used to even use it on me!

What's a 'juke box'? Kinda like a juice box with a speech impediment?

Well, a Jukebox is kinda like a great big MP3 Player (about the size of a chest freezer)! 50's technology, no integrated circuits! Lot's of colorful flashing lights! Usually cost about a nickle to play a song. For more info, see Grandpa!
