HEMTT Coolant Filter

Has anyone with a HEMTT added a coolant filter? Or know definitively where I should plumb one in?

I bought the exact parts - filter, base, and shutoff valves - that the M1070 HET uses, both the HET and HEMTT sharing a very similar Detroit 8V92. On the HET, I believe the coolant filter connects to the inlet and outlet of the oil cooler, effectively shunting a portion of the flow through the cooler. On my HEMTT the oil cooler outlet is where the block heater is. I could get a different block heater, there's one that mounts in place of a square plate near the dipstick tube, but I thought I'd see what others have done first. Maybe someone with a HET can confirm where the filter is plumbed in? I haven't been close enough to one to study the coolant hoses.

A friend of mine has suggested that unless the coolant filter has a lot of natural restriction, it might be a bad idea to shunt areas of the cooling system... So I want to make sure I'm installing the filter properly. Thanks!

Regards,
Jon

Well, maybe I figured it out... I just found this picture of the right side of the 8v92 in a M1070 HET. The coolant lines disappearing to the right of the picture are going to the coolant filter, which is in front of the radiator. The filter visible is the secondary fuel filter. One hose goes to the side of the thermostat housing, and the other to the inlet of the oil cooler.
