HMMWV Lug Nuts

Resurrecting an old thread. I had some lug nuts that were very tight all the way off. Too tight as in 600 ft”lbs impact tight. I ran a 9/16 NF Tap through them and now they spin on largely by hand and torque down as they should. The tap didn’t cut any metal from the threads but did straighten some of the threads. That leads me to believe they were overtorqued and rolled over the thread pitch a bit.
