How do I know if flame heater nozzle is leaking?

Hello

Took off the small tube going to the flame heater and fuel is always flowing. Does that mean that the nozzle is always leaking into the intake manifold? Or does the whole nozzle need to be removed to confirm a leaking nozzle?

Fuel should not flow unless the flame heater pump is running. It should only run if you are pressing the switch on the dash.,

The small tube feeds the nozzle at about 90 psi when the flame heater pump is turned on, there may be some leakage when off, never tested it that way. The return line should take care of it.

To test the nozzle for leakage, you have to remove the nozzle, plug the opening in the intake manifold adapter and run the engine. No fuel should leak out the nozzle.

Early models had solenoid valves in the lines to guaranti that no fuel leaked out the nozzle.

You can check the nozzle spray pattern by sticking it in a clear plastic jug and turning on the flame heater, for that matter.
