So here's my vision, I want to put my Himars cab on an m1088 with a knuckle boom crane behind the cab. Does anyone know if there will be room between the cab and end of an M172 trailer? I'm pretty sure the crane off an M1084 is more narrow than the one off the wrecker model, but it's max lift is only 5k. Anybody have any ideas?

When the M172 is coupled to a fifth wheel, the front leading edge of the trailer just barely covers the front of the fifth wheel. In other words you don't need too much clearance between the fifth wheel and the knuckleboom. Just don't try to couple to any other type trailer (crunch)

I thought about buying the m1089 that's in the classifieds but it's so long that if I put a fifth wheel plate in it and hooked a trailer to it Id be afraid the turning radius would be too much. Any thoughts?

To bad you did not get the m1089 out of ATL/GL, it was listed as NON running but it was running, the only thing wrong was slow air build.
