Did our beloved trucks come with rear view mirrors? Mine doesn't have one, and it doesn't look as if it ever did. Also, where is the high beam indicator loacated at on the dash? Mine doesn't appear to have that littel doo-dad either. :?

No need for one. Truck is not a schoolbus. Existing external mirrors should be adequate.
As to the high beam indicator, I think you should obtain an Operators Manual.
Edited: Manual should be available at the LOGSA site.

Mirror

I mounted a mirror to the center column between the windshields. I got one from John Bizal (I see them on other parts sites too), drilled a couple of pilot holes where I wanted it, and screwed it on with a couple of 1/4" pan heads. I'm a big OE type fan but I also preferred the safety margin it gives me in traffic. Interestingly, the parts manual lists a rear view mirror but doesn't show how it is mounted or what it looks like. John's aren't exactly '50s era vehicle style but it works and looks OK. It is the only thing that gives me a right rear view beyond what I can see by turning my head. The little mirror on the left vibrates a bit too much to be reliable on my truck.

I think Charles answered the high-beam question on the G741 site.

The LOGSA site doesn't have an ops manual for the M37. It does have a manual for mounting radios in the trucks but that is about it.

http://www.military-media.com/ has a cd with all the 3/4 ton manuals on for $19.95 with modest shipping. I really like it a lot as you can print out the pages you need for reference, mark them up, get them greasy and still have clean copies the next time you need them (as long as you keep the printer fed), or you can just read them on the monitor...
I also like my hard copies from Portrayal Press, but I save them for when I am in the library sitting on the throne...
I also have a page on my website showing how I installed a mirror on the right side to aid in spotting the little guy who wants to pass on my right or who runs up a highway on ramp on me...
Good luck,

I've had several gasser deuces with rear views. RAM in VT had a bunch of NOS ones. I took the factory bracket from one for my tractor.
