Lots of 818 tractors

Did a search on GL and noticed there are a LOT of 818 tractors coming out of the bases now. Anyone have a reason for this? I noticed there are more 818s than any other -800 variant combined, including 813 cargoes. I'm surprised that these tractors got held around in service longer than any other variant of its series.

Any hint of upcoming surplus of M915/916/920 tractors, or M900-series tractors coming out?

Shhhh.... I'm getting a m818 tractor, one way or another, and it's 'wife approved' rofl

I have noticed that as well... Too bad I spent more on a trailer the other day then I could have gotten a tractor in TN for! Oh well, as you say, there are plenty more coming up. I'll get one, only a matter of time.

I had a person who would know tell me that the 813's and 817's were getting grabbed off of the bases by the State Department and sent over to "friendly???" middle east (arab) countries, where there is apparently high demand for these 5 tons. For whatever reason there must not be the same level of demand for the 818's by the same arabs, and the State Department is letting them go the normal GL route.

I'm sure our Arab allies are taking some, but don't forget Israel. There was a lot of several hundred M923s/M925s and M813s at Lejeune a few years ago. The site guy said that all of them were headed to Israel. In terms of Arab allies, I think Morocco takes quite a few. Several months back, I saw many trucks at Letterkenny with a "HOLD - MOROCCO" tag.

What have the "average" going prices been? (Roughly?)

Think they'll come down? Go up? What kinds of folks are after them? I've heard the logging industry likes them, but I don't know where that's coming from. may not be the case.

I am the kind of guy after one. If you spent over $2500 the last go around you could have gotten one from GL. Stay our of my way on the next go around. That is all I am going to say. No collusion here.

The biggest reason the tractors are coming out is that the National Guard in Transformation has had a lot of reorginization and the tractors are falling out due to 936's coming out of Active Duty units and the FMTV tractors coming on line. I would still like to see some of the 936's stay here in Korea I don't have any US trucks here except a PLS truck company and a HET company. Sure would like to have a battalion on ready status here.
