I ordered a new DL7157 alternator but the wiring terminals are not the same, I have searched the threads and also the -20 TM F9 charging diagram with no luck one finding my answer, there is a brown wire with a snap type connector on the back of my old alternator but not the new DL 7157 and cannot figure out what that wire is for and if it is even necessary, I am thinking maybe voltmeter gauge?

Pretty sure that that wire is for the diagnostic port for access on functionality of systems of the vehicle.

You will not find any auto parts store selling an alternator with the ground terminal or the STE/ICE terminal. That is why it has already been mentioned that you should not get rid of your original alternator. It is also part of the reason I did the videos.

Thanks for referencing and watching my videos. I wrap up the alternator thing with a video about putting all the parts back in. That video will publish this coming Friday morning. July 4th.

I think a 76 caddy Seville is the only alternator with an isolated ground.
