M1009 engine number

Hi all,

I am looking to get a k5 blazer m1009. As far as i know they are all run on 6.2l detroit diesel.The owner told me that the engine on this car has been swapped to another m1009 engine. The engine number is Dja0823. How will i know that this is the actual engine from m1009? Does any of you knows anything on what the numbers mean? What should detroit diesel number looks like?
