M101/M100 brake handle

I may have learned something today. Scary thought.

Are M101, early models, like a 1952, and M100 brake handles the same thing?

If they are, is there a difference between the left and right handles?? Or are those interchangable?

(Again I'll attach the best picture I have of the style handles I'm talking about.)
