I have followed all the wonderful threads with regard to alternator issues. Have determined that Gen1 alternator is in need of a rebuild. Going to order the rebuild kit from CUCV Electric as many have suggested. Was also thinking of buying a new alternator from Rare Electric " OEM Isolated Ground Military CUCV 12 Volt 100 AMP Alternator" $177.70 and keep the original after rebuild as a spare. Does anyone have experiance with these alternators from Rare Electric? Are they a direct replacement as advertised? Are they any good?
