Greetings all. Been reading around a lot, just learned this place exists. I'm a civilian(does that matter here?), lover of the US constitution, freedom, and the responsibility that comes with it. Big fan of the troops, not always of the leadership's decisions.

Anyways, back to the topic. I want to build an Overland offroad trailer. Pulling behind my Toyota Sequoia, aiming for it to be able to go anywhere the truck can go(very capable offroad), small, light, minimal, modular. Could carry a RTT for camping, or motorcycle, or haul stuff around the property. I don't want fixed walls like a m1101*, I want the lighter trailer with more options. Also hope to swap hubs (or the whole axle) to 6 on 5.5 wheels to match the tow vehicle. Undecided on trailer brakes as I want to keep it all under 2k#.

I've set my sites on a m116a2 as the base. I like the ribs too hold up the roof top tent, or take off if needed. Can't seem to find one for sale anywhere nearby, just old listings of ones that sold. I came across this m762 trailer that was reasonably restored by a family that has a collection of m416s in great condition(they're not for sale, sorry :), and scooped it up. It's 4'x6', and is great for what it is. It's also tiny. So I'm debating whether to custom fab this into what I want, or hold out for a m116a2 that has the ribs so I don't have to build a cage myself.
I'm a welder/mech and a builder, so I *can* do it but does anyone have input you could add while I'm deciding what's the best trajectory?
