M37 rear lights

I noticed on my m37 the rear lights are different. I would like to swap over to the drivers side style for it looks like more of a tail lights. Is this possible and why 2 different styles lights. Thanks

you can swap to whatever you want, fairly common, check out g741, lots of threads on brake lights.

If you look at the original wiring diagram only one side was a tail light, the other was blackout only, hence having two different lights.
