If your window is in good shape sure, just restitch it. Be sure to use Outdoor rated thread. The company Coats and Clark, a very old thread and sewing notions company, sell an outdoor rated upholstery thread I recommend.

If your window is in any way degraded, cloudy, scratched, or cracked, you can replace it by gluing in a new one. You can get new 40 gauge clear marine vinyl from marinevinyfabric.com, and sometimes they have 1 yard offcuts for sale cheap in the Clearance/Closeouts page, so look there first.

Yes, you can hand stitch, but it takes a very long time and hurts the hands and by the end the once-tight stitches start to get uneven as your hands cramp up (obviously I've restitched windows by hand.

I have been researching for a way to glue pieces back on milspec vinyl and civilian sailcloth. My reason was so that HMMWV owners who bought an aftermarket soft top could install the often missing Velcro strip along that back needed to attach a cargo cover or one of my soft slant backs.

I have found a solution that appears to be successful, and it should also apply to you.

You can glue new vinyl/window in place now, thanks to JB Weld SuperWeld Extreme super glue gel. WalMart, Lowes and others have it, and Amazon sells a two pack for close to $10. Other super glues do NOT work. HH-66 vinyl cement does NOT work. Gorilla glue does NOT work. All 2-part epoxies tried do NOT work. SuperWeld Extreme WORKS.

As to the how-to for gluing, I have made a video describing the process. I'm waiting for some local HMMWV owner to volunteer and take me up on gluing one in for him in exchange for being allowed to video. I have my own HMMWV of course, but it already has the Velcro.

Hope this helps,
