M939 - burned up wire 568 off the alternator

Where does the 568 wire run to? I have read is the power that "excites" the field on the alternator - trying to find out where it runs to. I need to probably replace the entire length of the wire.

Does that probably mean my alternator is toast?

Thanks in advance - we have converted the truck over to a heavy grass fire truck.

Alternator is crap.


It runs to wire 5 exiting the control box that goes to the circuit breakers

Upgrade to a brushless alternator and you don't need the exciter wire
